The human brain is a complex system of nerve cells that are easily damaged by free radicals, high cholesterol, high blood sugars, excessive alcohol intake and other offensive neurotoxins. Although these things can also wreak havoc on the body, the brain doesn’t recover as quickly, or as well. Since we are all living longer these days, preserving our brain is ever so important.
In recent decades, certain foods have been emerging as being neuroprotective, or simply put, ‘brain protectors.’ Foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids for example like salmon, and flax, or antioxidants like those found in berries and green leafy vegetables all work to support our brain.
